HOW IT WORKS?
In an evaporative cooler, a pump circulates water from the reservoir on to a cooling pads, which in turn becomes very wet. A fan draws air from outside the unit through the moistened pad. As it passes through the pad the air is cooled by evaporation. Easy right??
But this system can become less effective if not maintained regularly with servicing and safety checks.
Evaporative airconditioners are a cheap and effective way to cool your home but they must be maintained properly in order to stay safe for you and your family.
Legionella - so water temperature is a key factor in controlling the growth of the bacteria in the system. Minimising the quantity of legionella bacteria in the system’s water is the first step in controlling the risk of infection. Airborne: risk of breathing in legionella bacteria if the cooling system atomises water bearing the bacteria.
Fire – Like with any electrical appliance or device there is a possibility of heat being generated due to poor electrical connections. This should be checked over by an A-class electrician to confirm compliance.
